With a complex flavor and strong aromatic character, Adamus Organic Dry Gin contains 18 individually distilled botanicals, which give the gin a fresh, fruity/citrusy, floral, and spicy soul.
With a sublime spirit, Adamus promises to reinvent the experience of gin drinking.
Baga Grape Variety
The Baga grape is the ex-libris of Bairrada, our region, in Portugal. The Baga grape gives to the gin softness, structure, and terroir.
Juniper
Juniper is the base of every gin.
Juniper provides Adamus its structure as a whole.
The combination of cinnamon, which gives exotic flavors; ginger, which gives an aromatic and spicy profile; and cardamom, which combines sweetness and freshness, gives Adamus its spicy touch, giving a mouthfeel persistence.
Used in Ancient Rome, Lavender has several aromatic properties giving a floral touch to the entire gin. Combined with Lavender, we added Hibiscus, which will give the gin a smooth and elegant touch, thus complementing the floral side.
The orange, a rich fruit in vitamin C, gives a citrus and fruity touch that balances the entire aromatic structure. To the orange, we add the lemon that gives the freshness and balances its entire aromatic structure
Pennyroyal's traditional from Portugal. This plant has an intense and penetrating aroma, reminiscent of mint.
The combination of Pennyroyal with Sage balances the structure of the gin, complementing the floral side and adding its freshness.
All botanicals used in the Adamus Organic Dry Gin are 100% organic. They were carefully selected and manually distilled by masters in the art of distillation to extract the maximum flavors of the botanists.
These are steam distilled, in a careful process, one by one in traditional copper columns.
With a persistent mouthfeel and a deep and robust profile, Adamus Organic Dry Gin rout of discovery to the different senses. The different sides of the gin are perfectly balanced, where none overlaps the other but complements each other in a perfect symbiosis.

The London Spirits Competition looks to recognise, reward and help promote spirits brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific spirits drinker. For any spirit brand to earn its place on a retailer’s shelf or a restaurant’s spirits list - and then vitally stay there - they need to be marketable and consumer-driven and not just produced in the general hope it can find enough people willing to sell and buy it.
That is why the London Spirits Competition is different. It will single out and shine the spotlight on those spirit brands that consumers really want to buy and have a clear market value for trade buyers.
A competition that will judge spirits in three key areas:
To be an award winner a brand needs to have a top quality spirit, that offers both the trade and the consumer great value for money, and it will need to look good and truly stand out on the shelf and on the back bar.
It stands out for its floral and citrus character on the nose with notes of orange, white flowers, dried banana chips and pear. The palate has sharp flavours of citrus, juniper and tropical fruits with a spicy fi nish.

Adamus is based on the claim "Sublime Spirit".
From the beginning, our focus has been to provide a sublime experience throughout the entire process. From the first contact with the product (the touch), to the moment of enjoying and tasting our gin (the taste).
It was with this principle that we developed a new box: more attractive, a 360 sensory experience that awakens to the look and touch, with textures and colors chosen in detail.
The new adamus box combines an exquisite, light and attractive bringing a certain mystic that we like to preserve. With a cutting edge that reveals a little of your sublime interior, showing the essence of ADAMUS and creating a spontaneous desire to open up and discover more.

With regard to gin, it is easy to innovate and vary, and to experience a multitude of botanicals and a wide variety of combinations. This means that the taste of gin is not lost, on the contrary, it gains a special palate.
When choosing the botanists to use, despite the vast list of options, the choice often falls on the hibiscus flower!
In this article we will explore a little more about hibiscus and find out what makes it so special.
The hibiscus is a shrub or small tree that can reach about three meters in height. It has glossy, ovate or lanceolate leaves.
Its flowers are large and reddish or pink in color and have a very peculiar taste, with notes of acidity and bitterness
Despite its taste dividing opinions, its medicinal properties are undeniable:

]]>Since it's creation, gin has conquered significant spaces in the world of alcoholic beverages. When preparing a gin we can come across a wide range os combinations of botanicals, always hoping to enhance the flavor and aroma it is common to question which is the best option.
Gin is produced from the combination of neutral grains, in which juniper is the main ingredient and which defines the name of the distillate. However, when making the drink, other ingredients can be added. For Adamus, the Baga grape variety was the motto. Among other regions, an intense search was carried out from the centenary mountain range of Buçaco to the seafront, where some of the best and most special botanicals of organic production were found.
Our blend consists of 18 different botanicals, the most common ones, such as Juniper, Hibiscus, Poejo, Orange, Lemon, Cinnamon, Ginger and Cardamom, and others more daring such as Baga grape, Sage, Lavender and others not revealed, source of the mystery that gives Adamus such a special and original character. However, in addition to being essential at the time of gin production, botanicals are a key element when preparing the gin drink. Each ingredient can take into account everything from the formality of the occasion to the weather, for example. With a little creativity, alchemy happens. So, here we present some of the best botanicals to use when you want to drink that glass of gin.
Star Anise
With its intense fruity flavor it is ideal for intimate occasions. It is a great botanical for a romantic date washed down with gin.
Lemon
Perhaps the most used ingredient as a partner of gin. Ideal for a refreshing gin with its citrus aftertaste.
Vanilla
It has a sweet flavor and aroma. It can be used in the preparation of a gin in a more intimate situation, since it symbolizes rarity.
Orange
The citrus notes that can give bitterness or sweetness can compose gins for hot or cold days.
Hibiscus
Its color brings a special touch to the gin and its flavor is slightly sweet, with acidic and subtly sour notes.
Cinnamon
Its peculiar flavor gives a spicy touch to the gin while promoting a characteristic aroma. It is a great companion for a cold winter night.
Ginger
Like cinnamon, its spicy aftertaste is ideal for a colder day and a more intimate moment.
Cardamom
With its peculiar flavor with citrus and spicy touches it is ideal for an intense gin.
Pink Pepper
The pink pepper gives the gin flavor, aroma and beauty. It can be used in its preparation on more formal occasions.

You consider yourself a gin connoisseur. A master of the art of creating the best gin and tonic. You even set up a gin bar at home. Still, get ready, because we have a big challenge for you. In this article we tell you a few things about gin's potential in the kitchen and we give you 3 recipes so you can make a dinner party with a starter, main course and dessert. And it will all be blended with the delicate flavours of Adamus.
But, before we begin, let us leave you with a few considerations. We know gin is delicious, full of floral flavours, but there are, however, a few precautions to be taken. Gin has strong aromas, so you must be careful not to overshadow the other elements of your dish. Therefore, add it in moderation.
Still, you should bear in mind that, as with any type of alcohol, high temperatures make it evaporate. The longer you let something with alcohol cook, the more it will evaporate. On the other hand, the amount of gin you will put in your food will never be the same as drinking neat gin. Confused? No need to worry: our recipes give you with the exact amounts of gin you should use.
If you feel like exploring new territories in the kitchen after trying these recipes, we give you some extra tips:
You certainly won't be impressed if we suggest you start your meal with a prawn starter. It's something we've seen too often, to say the least. But a touch of gin can turn a boring starter into a delicious, juicy, almost sweet dish. Take note of the ingredients.
Ingredients:
24 fresh or just thawed prawns
4 tablespoons of butter
¼ cup of chopped onion
3 tablespoons of chopped ginger
¼ cup of gin
1 baguette
Did our starter whet your appetite? Get ready, because the main course won't disappoint you either. This recipe was developed in collaboration with chef
Angélica Salvador, from In Diferente restaurant, in Oporto.
Ingredients:
400 gr tuna steak
100 gr avocado
60 gr tomato
60 gr purple onion
70 gr granny smith apple
20 gr coriander
20gr chives
70 gr orange
60 gr lime
60 ml soy sauce
100ml Adamus gin
75ml avocado oil
tabasco, salt and black pepper q.b.
Convinced? We knew these flavours wouldn't let you down. But the meal is not over yet! To finish off nicely, we have a simple dessert, reminiscent of summer:
Ingredients:
3 lemons
1 tonic water bottle
5 lemon ice cream scoops
150 ml gin

We all have been spending more time at home, and sometimes, it’s not easy to think of new activities to keep you busy. Why not create your own gin bar at home? We assure you that without spending much you will be able to create a unique space, where you can prepare your late afternoon cocktails. Besides, as soon as it is possible to meet with friends again, you will have another excuse to organize a great house party. And, of course, to show your bartender skills. Are you ready? Take a look at our tips.
Do you remember that piece of furniture you left in the corner of the room, but you never actually thought of throwing it out? It’s time to roll up your sleeves and give it a new life! Not good at DIY? You can always search online for used furniture at good prices if you don’t want to invest in a good piece. We’re sure you’ll find a piece of furniture that suits you!
What can’t be missing from a gin bar? Obviously, the gin! There are gin brands for all tastes - obviously, you don’t need to have them all, but pick a selection of 5 to 7 brands so you can have different choices. And, of course, Adamus gin can’t be missed!
We already told you in this article that you should be thorough when you pick a gin glass. A balloon glass is the perfect choice to serve a gin and tonic, but there are many other cocktails that can be served in other types of glasses, such as martini glasses, highballs, among others.
A gin bar without tonic water is like a beach day without sun. Once again, you don’t have to invest in many brands - think quality instead of quantity. If you buy the gin first you can always try this Fever Tree free tool that helps you find the best tonic water to pair with a specific gin. It also takes into account, for example, the spices you use.
Garnishes are also an essential part of a gin cocktail and it’s great if you can stock some to use whenever you need. Some of the most common garnishes are lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit, but if you want to venture into new flavours you can always try pepper, star anise, strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, rosemary, lavender and edible flowers, among others.
Although not a priority, over time you can also invest in accessories that will help you to have an even better equipped gin bar. From a citrine scraper to ice moulds, the shaker and bar spoon (and don’t forget the bar mat and the ADAMUS coasters!) - there’s a panoply of accessories that will help you look like a pro!

Long gone are the Summer days, when we used to try to counteract the heat by enjoying a gin and tonic on a terrace. Now, the streets are filled with fall tones, the jackets come out of the closet and the temperatures go down. This doesn't seem to go well with gin, does it?
Not if we talk about hot gin. Hot gin is a delicious beverage with species that warms our throat, and it lets us feel the alcohol flavour in a smoother way than a conventional cocktail gin. The idea that you should only drink cold gin is, therefore, only a myth.
The history of hot gin goes back to the XVIII century, when, during the fairs by the Thames river, people used to heat the gin to better withstand the rigorous London winters. A few hundred years later, hot gin is back in the spotlight, giving the admirers more reasons and distinct ways to enjoy their favourite drink.
And why does an alcoholic hot drink taste so good? Science can explain. The low temperatures suppress certain flavours in gin, while the higher temperatures accentuate the botanical notes and give gin a more intense flavour.
And yes, we already thought that you were going to ask: how can I, then, make a hot gin?
The good news is that almost every gin can be heated without losing its flavour. On the other hand, you have to be careful during the heating process, since you can easily weaken the alcoholic content. Mixologists say that gin must be gradually heated in the stove, inside a pan or another suitable container, and you should always be careful not to burn or boil it. If you heat the gin more than approximately 25 celsius degrees you may evaporate the alcohol.
If you prefer a simpler method to warm your gin, just cover it with hot water. Imagine, for instance, you are preparing a gin and tonic. You only have to follow the regular recipe (add gin, tonic water and a lemon or lime zest) and, in the end, cover with hot water.
And if you think this is a drink that is only meant for the cold seasons, you’re wrong. Hot gin may be drunk at any time of the year, and it fits perfectly in moments as diverse as a friend's encounter after work or a night well spent with your better-half on the couch.
The most important thing, of course, is to taste it. We leave you with two recipes so you can do it whenever you want.

Through time, these mysteries can lead to ideas that are not always true, but fear not. Prepare your cocktail, sit comfortably and get to know some of the main myths associated with gin.
Myth #1 - Gin comes from Britain
While many believe that gin comes from Britain, that is simply not true. The spirit was created in the Netherlands and has its origins in a drink called Jenever, which is made of Juniper (which is also gin’s main botanic). The soldiers who fought in the 30 Years War used to drink it to calm their nerves and feel stronger while battling the british enemies. It turns out these were the ones who brought Jenever to Britain, where they developed the drink until it became what we know today as gin.
Myth #2 - Gin should not be drunk during meals
Gin is a much more versatile drink than what many people think. The bar is, undoubtedly, the scenario where we will find it more frequently but, as we already pointed in this article, it is increasingly common to harmonise gin with various dishes and snacks. Its citric elements match seafood perfectly. And there are also other good options, like sushi or matured meats. Even a good dessert can be a nice fit for gin, since it also works as a digestif.
Myth #3 - Drinking gin makes us depressed
The alcohol effects in our body depend on how much and how fast we drink it, and also, obviously, on its properties. In small amounts, alcohol improves our moods, making us feel uninhibited, and in bigger quantities, it acts as a depressor, exaggerating our moods. It basically makes you feel happier if you’re already happy and more depressed if you’re already not having a good day.
Despite many people thinking gin can make you depressed, this fact is not proven yet- gin can make you want to cry as much as any other alcoholic beverage.
Myth #4 - Gin must only be drank cold
Obviously, none of us want to drink a lukewarm gin tonic. But did you know that you can also drink hot gin? Hot Gin Punch is a drink whose origins date back to the 18th century, when gin used to be warmed during the rigorous London winters. The truth is this tradition is coming back, and there are good reasons to adopt it: hotter temperatures emphasize the gin’s botanical notes, making it sweeter, more floral and fruity. And there are more good news: almost all kinds of gin can be warmed without losing its flavour.
Myth #5 - Gin Tonic prevents Covid-19
And now, a myth that has spread significantly in recent months - does tonic water prevent Covid-19? The myth has spread because tonic water has a (residual) amount of quinine, a substance with medicinal properties. The race to the supermarkets to buy tonic water started because quinine belongs to the ‘family’ of hydroxychloroquine, which has already been studied as a potential cure for coronavirus. However, specialists have already confirmed that not even in industrial amounts tonic water can cure Covid-19. Leave it, then, for what it really is good for - making delicious cocktails with gin.

Creating a gin and tonic is not a complicated task, but you have to bear in mind the quality of all the elements in its preparation. From choosing the best ingredients to the selection of the best glass and even the quality of the ice, we leave you some of the best tips to obtain the perfect gin tonic.
Tonic Water
Let's start with the basics: the ratio of gin to tonic water. Depending on how strongly you appreciate your gin and tonic, the ratio can vary from two to four parts of tonic per part of gin.
As the proportion of tonic is higher than gin in gin tonic, it is very important to have a quality tonic water. In the last couple of years, the number of tonic water brands available worldwide has increased significantly, and they vary in many aspects, such as the quinine and sugar quantity, which determine its bitterness and sweetness. There are also other ingredients that contribute to the tonic water flavour, like citric fruits. It is important that the tonic water does not remove or camouflage the "personality" of the gin. There has to be a perfect combination of gin and tonic, so that the two stand out in a balanced way.
Ice
In a drink with such few ingredients as the gin and tonic, all of them have to shine - including the ice. The ice cubes made from tap water may contain impurities that harm the flavour of your drink. Distilled water, though, might create a dull taste, which also doesn’t help. The solution is to use filtered water from a jar. This way, you will obtain ice cubes that assure a gin and tonic with a balanced flavour.
Also consider the shape and amount of ice cubes. Remember that the goal is to maintain the drink fresh. The larger the size of the ice cube, the harder it will be to melt, thus ensuring that the taste will not be diluted by the water resulting from the ice.
Garnish
The garnish is the fruit, herb or even vegetable that is added to the gin and tonic and that may serve three different goals: to accentuate a flavour already present in the gin, to add a flavour that doesn’t exist in the gin, by balancing it, or to simply make your gin and tonic aesthetically pleasing.
That said, there are no correct answers - it’s your drink, so might as well try different garnishes until you find your favourite. Just make sure you always respect the gin’s soul!
Many gins have citric ingredients, so lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit are often the prefered garnishes. But, bear in mind: a lemon wheel might be too much. Just add a little lemon peel, enough to make a difference in your gin and tonic taste.
A good gin should always be tried simply, in order to capture its essence. However, you can always try other garnishings such as pepper, star anise, strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, rosemary, lavender and edible flowers, among others.
Glass
If you want to highlight your gin and tonic flavours, the glass choice is primordial. Pick a balloon glass, which has a spheric format, ideal to preserve the flavours and make the ice melt slower, keeping the drink fresh and less diluted for longer. Besides, the glass balloon shape allows you to better enjoy the botanics aroma present in the gin.
When preparing, cooling the glass by "rotating" the ice and having the tonic water very fresh are essential aspects that ensure a refreshing gin and tonic.

Tom Collins
Although its origin is not precise, the Tom Collins cocktail was created in the second half of the XIX century, in London or New York. It reminds us of the classic gin tonic, but due to its ingredients, it’s sweeter and more citrical.

60 ml club soda

Simple sugar syrup recipe
These two cocktails that we just present you have the simple sugar syrup as one of the ingredients. If you don’t know how to make it, its preparation is very simple:
Boil 250 ml of water with 250 grams of white sugar. As it boils, mix the sugar until it turns into syrup with the water. Let it cool down before adding it to the cocktail.
